Seventeen candidates have shown interest in temporarily filling a vacant seat for the Vestal Town Board. 51-year-old Steve Milkovich stepped down from his position as board member after being elected to a four-year term in November when he relocated his family for a job. State law allows the remaining four board members to consider appointing a temporary replacement. They could also hold a special election, or leave the position open until this year’s general elections in November. The board still has to decide how it will move forward. The position has an annual salary of just over $10,000.
