A Vestal man is charged with misdemeanor driving while intoxicated after police say he caused a crash that sent six to the hospital Saturday evening at about 5:50PM.
Vestal Police say Adam Gurney, 25, was the driver of the vehicle that caused the accident on Route 26.
Gurney’s SUV was trying to turn left onto Main Street when it was hit by an oncoming car.
The SUV then hit a third vehicle which was stopped.
Five of the victims, including two toddlers and a teenager, were taken to local hospitals.
Police say the children, who were riding in Gurney’s vehicle, are ok.
Police obtained a warrant to test Gurney’s blood Saturday evening.
Unconfirmed reports say that Gurney is the father of the toddlers.
The sixth victim, a woman, was taken to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse with serious injuries.
The investigation continues into the cause of the crash and police say further charges may be pending.
