A second alarm house fire in Vestal left a family without a place to live. The call came over emergency dispatch just after 2 p.m. yesterday, for smoke coming from a home at 201 Avelon Dr. in Vestal. Upon arrival crews saw smoke coming from the attic of the single story ranch. The fire started in the kitchen, traveled to the attic and extended to the length of the house. A resident was home at the time of the fire and called 911. Both the electric and gas were turned off. The fire chief said there was extensive smoke and water damage inside the home and residents will need to find a new place to live. Red Cross services have been offered to the family.
