Additional information has been released about the police standoff which took place in Windsor Monday night. 45-year-old Jose Gonzalez has been arrested by New York State Police after threatening two people with a rifle, and causing a standoff with police on Bennett Road in Windsor. The standoff began just before 4 o’clock Monday evening, and 15 to 20 police officers were at the home until just before midnight. Efforts to negotiate with Gonzalez were unsuccessful, so the New York State Police Special Operations Response Team searched the reisidence with a robot and cameras. Initially they were unable to locate Gonzalez, so they entered the home around 11 o’clock and found him hiding in a bedroom closet. He was arraigned in Windsor Town Court on charges of menacing, endangering the welfare of a child, and criminal possession of a weapon.
