A 26-year-old woman has died after she is said to have intentionally laid down in front of an oncoming train. The incident occurred just before midnight on Tuesday in the area of North Oak Avenue. The engineer and conductor of the Norfolk Southern train, which was travelling westbound through Endicott, say that they witnessed the woman get out of a car parked nearby and then lay in the track as the train was approaching. The train could not brake fast enough to avoid hitting the woman. The woman’s identity is being withheld until her family is notified.
