Woman treated for overdose following car accident

A woman was revived from a drug overdose following a car accident on Saturday. The unidentified female was a passenger in a two-car crash near the intersection of CFJ Boulevard and Airport Road in Johnson City. Authorities had to use Narcan to help the woman recover.

The driver of the Vehicle, 33-year-old John Dirig of Long Eddy, New York, fled the scene of the accident on foot before authorities could arrive. He was later apprehended and accused of attempting to discard packets of heroin in a trashcan of a nearby gas station.

 

Dirig was arraigned and released to appear back in court at a later date. The female passenger was transported to Wilson hospital with charges pending.

 

The condition of the driver in the second vehicle is unknown.
