A longtime law enforcement officer has announced his candidacy for Tioga County Sheriff.
Shawn Nalepa announced he is running as a Republican for Tioga County Sheriff during an event Thursday at the Blue Dolphin Restaurant in Apalachin.
Nalepa spent nearly 27 years with the Tioga County Sheriff’s Office, including time as the operations captain.
He is currently working as the Training Director of the Corrections Division at the Broome County Sheriff’s Office.
Nalepa is looking to replace longtime Tioga County Sheriff Gary Howard, who recently announced he will not run for re-election.
