New York lawmakers have approved a bill that places a one-year moratorium on large data centers.
The Responsible Data Center Development Act has passed both the state senate and house, and now awaits Gov. Kathy Hochul’s signature.
The bill would place new environmental, utility, labor and community benefit requirements on data centers.
The moratorium would not apply to previously issued approvals or projects that began construction before the law takes effect.
