Strawberry Festival set for this weekend, parking changes announced

Owego is preparing for thousands of visitors this weekend for the annual Strawberry Festival.

The popular event kicks off on Thursday, with a 5K Walk and Run at Hickories Park in Owego.

There will be over 20 bands on several stages throughout the Strawberry Festival, including the Block Party from 5 to 10 p.m. on Friday evening. Grand fireworks conclude the festivities for Friday.

The annual Strawberry Festival parade will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. Following the parade, a day of music, children’s activities, vendors and more will take place in downtown Owego.

From the Owego Police Department:

During parts of the festival some streets will be closed and detours will be in place.
There will be a street fair on Friday, June 19th, 2026 starting at 5:00 p.m. and Fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. Visitors and residents should be aware that the following streets will be closed starting at 2:00 p.m. for set up:
Lake Street between Main Street and Front Street
Front Street between Paige Street and Parkers Lane
Court and Park Streets between Main St. and Front St. will close at 5:00 p.m.
At 2:00 p.m. Church Street between Main Street and Front Street will close.
At 9:00 p.m. Front Street at Academy Street will close until the conclusion of the fireworks.
No on-street parking will be allowed in the above listed area.
Fireworks are scheduled to start at 9:30 p.m. At 9:15 p.m. the Court Street Bridge and Front Street from Court Street to Academy Street will be closed to all traffic until conclusion of the festival.
Additional street closings, detours and traffic patterns will take place on Saturday, June 20th, 2026 beginning at 5:00 a.m. and continuing throughout the day.
Persons should seek alternate route to avoid delays.
