Weather permitting, professional movers will transport a 2600 sq. ft. building, formerly The Kingdom Hall, from its current location on the West side of Route 96, across the road to a new site next to Power and Paddle’s Shoe Outlet.
The event is the result of collaboration between neighbors.
When the owners of Power and Paddle, Jim and Sue Signs, heard that the building would be demolished to make way for a larger facility, they saw an opportunity to expand their Shoe Outlet and to recycle the building.
Construction on the new site is well underway, with huge amounts of dirt being excavated to allow for a full basement.
The building has been jacked up and is now completely off its foundation and on wheels, ready to be pulled across the road by cables.
The NYS Department of Transportation will close the road while the building is being moved.
Once the building is secured in its new location, the staff at Power and Paddle will begin moving their huge inventory of work boots and casual shoes to the new building.
The new retail space will also feature snow shoes, cross-country skis, kayaks and clothing. Power and Paddle plans to have a grand opening for the new Shoe Outlet in the fall.
To celebrate, Route 96 Power and Paddle’s Shoe Outlet will be having a “Moving Day” Sale on the day of the event, Tuesday, May 10, 2011. The Shoe Outlet is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
