After taking a year off due to Tropical Storm Lee, the Apalachin Fireman’s Field Days are back and ready for the crowds. The field days started in 1960 in a field on East Main Street. The goal was to raise money to purchase equipment for the fire department. The event starts tonight at 6 PM, and runs through Saturday, featuring midway rides, a bike giveaway, chicken barbeque, Friday night fireworks at 10, the Little Miss Apalachin contest Saturday at noon, classic car show Saturday from noon to 5, a hose race Saturday at 1 PM, and community parade Saturday at 6PM. We will broadcast that parade right here on News Radio WEBO. The gates open at 6 PM each night, and noon on Saturday. In addition to the return of the Firemen’s Field Days, the Apalachin Fire Department is also celebrating their 100th year of volunteer service to the community.
