A fire broke out in Apalachin early this morning causing extensive damage to a home. It happened at approximately 2 a.m. at 42 New St., just off of Main Street. The Apalachin Fire Department said the family was home when the fire started, but no one was hurt. An hour after the initial call, crews were seen fighting flames in the attic. According to the Apalachin assistant fire chief, the home has extensive damage. The cause is under investigation by Tioga County Fire Investigators. Crews from Vestal, West Corners and Campville fire stations also responded.
