Congressman Tom Reed made an appearance at a town hall meeting in Apalachin this weekend and voiced his support for hydrofracking.
On Saturday, Reed joined many local residents at the meeting, where people were not shy to voice their concerns about fracking directly to the 23rd congressional district leader.
Residents cited pollution, tainted water, and health issues as main reasons why the government should not bring fracking to the area. Reed said that while he understood their fears, he supports safe and responsible drilling, and believes that shale gas will strengthen the economy.
Reed also attended a similar town hall meeting in Horseheads on Saturday.
