A mobile home is a total loss after it went up in flames yesterday near the Tioga County line. It happened just after 1 pm at Lot 51, Post Trailer Park in Apalachin. Multiple departments were called to the scene to help battle the flames. According to the Apalachin fire chief, the resident of the trailer was taken to the hospital by ambulance for possible smoke inhalation. The man had been trying to go back into his home to grab some of his belongings. The fire chief said the man was thawing the pipes under his home at the time the blaze broke out. It’s not officially known yet if that’s what caused the fire. The man lived with his wife in the trailer before it burned to the ground. Only the husband was home at the time of the fire. More than an hour after flames broke out, at about 2:30, crews had the fire under control, but it was not completely out. The fire is still under investigation.
