In the third murder trial of Cal Harris, three alternate jurors were picked just before 5 p.m. last night, two women and one man. A full 12-person jury has been seated with five alternates. Because of the length of the trial, which is estimated at six to eight weeks, the judge is looking for one more alternate juror. Yesterday morning, 51 potential jurors arrived at the courthouse despite the snow storm. By lunch, the majority of them were dismissed. Ten potential jurors were questioned by both the prosecution and defense. Jury selection will continue today for the last remaining alternate. Opening statements are expected to begin tomorrow.
