As expected, acting Tioga County District Attorney Irene Graven officially announced on Tuesday that she will run in this fall’s Republican primary for DA. Graven announced her candidacy on Tuesday outside the Owego courthouse. She took over as the Tioga County District Attorney in January after Republican Gerald Keene was elected as the county’s judge. Graven worked as an assistant DA under Keene for 13 years. She cited her 97 percent conviction rate as one of the reasons she’s the right person for the job. Adam Schumacher and Kirk Martin have also announced their candidacy for Tioga County’s DA position. All candidates must file a 1,000 signature petition by this summer to qualify for the ballot. The Republican primary is scheduled to be held on September 10th.
