New York Police Crackdown on Commercial Vehicles

During the course of 72 hours, the New York State Police Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit performed 795 commercial vehicle inspections on the Southern Tier Expressway in Tioga and Steuben Counties. The vehicle inspections lead to 1,341 violations discovered, 167 vehicles taken off the road, and 38 drivers placed out of service. Some common vehicle violations according to New York State Police included unsecured loads, brake and steering violations, as well as indicator and brake light violations. Some of the drivers were taken off the road due to not having a commercial license, and/ or falsifying log books.
