Eight fire departments responded to an early morning fire that destroyed a home in Newark Valley. The call came in around just after midnight, early this morning. It happened at a home located at 4180 Route 38B. A family of four were in the house at the time of the blaze, but were able to escape, according to the fire dept. No one was injured. It took crews a few hours to completely extinguish the fire. Tioga County Fire Investigators determined it to be a chimney fire. A section of Route 38B was reduced to a single lane, but has since reopened.
