Potential Las Vegas-style casino operators have until July 6th to complete a new request for applications for the Southern Tier region. At a meeting yesterday afternoon, members of the New York State Gaming Commission mentioned they were expecting at least two applications to be submitted by the July deadline. In March, the New York State Gaming Commission approved a new request for a fourth commercial casino license to be located in the Southern Tier, formally opening a new bidding process. Jeff Gural, owner of Tioga Downs Resort and Casino, said he would be applying for a commercial casino license again. with improvements to his facility. Members of the commission yesterday said they are also expecting a second application from a business that has not yet applied.
