Lake Street in Owego is closed today as the project to replace the water and gas pipes has begun. It is projected to last for five months, but the sidewalks and businesses along the street will remain open through the work. No parking will be allowed on Lake Street during the project, but is available for free on nearby streets or in lots on Church, Park, Court, and Temple streets. The stretch of Main Street from North Avenue to Church Street will be closed tomorrow for preliminary work. Jeff VanWagenen from Suez Water was a guest on today’s WEBO Morning Show and says they plan to have the project completed by October 1. The full interview is available below.
