A public hearing was held at the Tioga County Office Building last night to further discuss the possibility of creating a fire district in the Village of Owego. By creating a fire district, all fire and EMS related decisions for the proposed district would be made through a fire board as opposed to the Village Board. Members of the Village of Owego Board, Town of Owego Board, and Town of Tioga Board were all present at last night’s hearing as the proposed district would carve out portions of the already-established fire department coverage areas. The three boards are expected to reconvene on the matter on January 6th.
