Dog owners in Owego may soon have a new place to play with their pups. The town board met with members of the Owego Dog Owner’s Group at a workshop Tuesday evening to discuss the details of a possible dog park. Group members say they want the park to be one of the best in the area, with fair rules, appropriate signs, the best kind of fences and seating so dogs and owners can have fun. They’ve mapped out two areas, for large and small dogs, to play in Hickories Park. Supporters say the park would be named The Rebecca Weitsman Memorial Dog Park, or Becky’s Bark Park, in honor of an area dog-lover who passed away. Her brother Adam has offered up funding. The Town Board says there are still some issues that need to be ironed out before anything is put on the agenda and voted on.
