Memorial Day weekend is a time to remember the veterans that have served our country, and the Owego community is doing its best to honor their memories. Spokesman for the Owego Veteran’s Memorial Committee Jim Raftis visited the WEBO Morning Show to discuss some of the events planned for Monday’s celebration, including a 9 o’clock mass and a reading of the veterans’ names. Following that, a parade will be proceeding through downtown Owego, with students from Owego Elementary carrying 170 small U.S. flags. The students will then be planting those flags near the new veterans memorials being erected outside the Tioga County courthouse. News Radio WEBO will be broadcasting live from courthouse square following the parade for a memorial ceremony for the dedication of the new monuments.
