An Owego man was found dead along the Susquehanna River last night, following a search in the village of Owego. 64-year-old Tony Smith was reported missing around 6pm, he hadn’t been seen since 11 o’clock yesterday morning at his home on Academy Street. The Owego Police Department and Fire Department led the search with the Tioga County Search and Rescue Team, and K-9’s from Owego and Binghamton Police Departments. The man was found dead at about 8 PM in Draper Park, near the Court Street Bridge, along the Susquehanna River. Family friends say he had been battling cancer and other health issues for about two years.
