For only the third time in the school district’s history, the Owego Free Academy is home to a state champion team. The Girls Varsity Volleyball team returned home last night from the state tournament in Glens Falls where they spent the weekend playing for the state championship. The girls were victorious in their efforts, defeating Johnstown for the win in a best-of-five series. Their bus returned to Owego last night, arriving in the Tops Plaza just after 7 PM. They were greeted by a generous showing of support from family, friends, classmates, neighbors, and alumni. The ladies were given a police and fire department escort home to the OFA campus from Fifth Avenue.
