The Tioga County Open Door Mission in Owego and The Red Door in Waverly are now asking for donations of school backpacks with supplies or $20 to purchase a backpack. The Mission is set to host a Back to School Bash in Owego and Waverly in August, with the goal this year to fill 400 backpacks. The Mission has purchased 200 backpacks. As the difficult winter has caused Tioga County families to experience high heating and utility bills, the Mission wants to give back by helping equip children with the supplies for next school year. Backpacks and monetary donations can be dropped off at the Mission at 425 North Avenue in Owego or The Red Door at 359 Broad Street in Waverly anytime from now through July 31st.
