A project that could bring another brand new apartment complex to the Village of Owego has got the attention of many in the area. The project site, a 4.3 acre site at 610 East Main Street, would be built on a 100-year floodplain. The plans call for three new apartment buildings that would hold 40 units, and could potentially house up to 140 residents. Neighbors are worried about the flooding potential and how it could affect nearby properties during a flood, as well as the possible environmental impact to Brick Pond. The company proposing the project says there will be a drainage system and is very confident in its design. The project failed to get enough votes to approve the measure by the County Zoning Board. The project now goes to the Village of Owego Zoning Board of Appeals. The meeting will be held on Tuesday, November 21 at 6 p.m.
