Town of Owego leaders met yesterday to finalize plans for a new shared facilities building that will house the town’s Highway, Parks, and Utilities department offices and equipment. The new town facilities building will be located behind the Owego Town Hall on Route 434. The existing trees behind the town hall will be cleared to make room for the building if the plans are approved by the state. The town began looking at a new location for their departments after the Flood of 2011. Once completed, Town Supervisor Don Castellucci says taking these departments out of the flood plain will save federal, state, and local tax dollars in case of future flood events. The town hopes to break ground on the project later this year and complete it by the fall of 2018.
