Owego’s Strawberry Festival begins tonight in the village of Owego. This is the 33rd annual Strawberry Festival. Tonight’s events include musical performances throughout the downtown area, a wine tasting at the Gateway Community deck, the Strawberry Festival Beauty Pageant in the Courthouse Square at 6:30, Strawberry Festival 5k at 7, and fireworks at 10 o’clock.
Tomorrow, the Strawberry Festival kicks off with a parade at 10 AM. We will broadcast that parade live atop the Beck’s Towing and Auto Rental flatbed on WEBO. Musical performances continue throughout the day, with vendors on North Avenue, Main, Lake, Front, and Court Streets.
The Owego Police department notes that some streets will be closed, and detours will be posted. Lake Street and Front Street between Court and Church will be closed tonight, beginning at 4pm, until 11pm. No on street parking will be permitted in those areas during that time. There will also be no parking available at Hickories Park, as the ground is currently too saturated with water.
Parking for the Strawberry Festival is available at Tops, Marvin Park, and Johnson’s Pools and Spas Plaza. There will be shuttle buses from each of those locations. Handicap parking is available with a handicap equipped shuttle from Marvin Park.
