The Tioga County Sheriff’s Office has released information regarding a traffic stop earlier in the month that led to multiple drug charges. On March 1st, a sheriff’s deputy pulled over a vehicle on North Avenue in Owego for an abnormally loud exhaust, and while talking to the occupants of the vehicle, the deputy observed indicators of drug activity in the vehicle. Following a search, police found white powder, later confirmed to be methamphetamine. Marijuana and related paraphernalia were also found. The driver, 51-year-old Perry Horton of Owego, and his passenger, 25-year-old Amanda Craft of Newark Valley, were charged each with a count of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a misdemeanor. Horton was also cited for the exhaust system on the car, and Craft was charged with a violation for the marijuana. A third occupant in the car, 25-year-old Steven Gilbert of Newark Valley, is currently being sought for alleged possession of methamphetamine.
