The Owego Village board met on Monday and discussed the village and town highway departments, as well as this year’s Strawberry Festival. The board passed a resolution last night to apply for a grant to help cover a study which the Village and Town will be conducting to determine whether or not to move both highway departments out of the flood zone. The grant they are applying for is $25,000, and each municipality would have to pay back ten percent. The board also approved a 5K run/walk during the Strawberry Festival weekend, provided the Historic Owego Marketplace will cover the insurance needed and the cost of any Owego Police needed for the event.
