The Tioga Arts Council will be hosting a rubber duck derby as part of the Strawberry Festival celebration this weekend. The Arts Council is joining forces with the girls’ swim team from Owego Free Academy to sell rubber ducks to race down the Susquehanna River on Saturday night. Abby Hendrickson of the Tioga Arts Council stopped by the WEBO Morning Show today to discuss the event, which calls for festival attendees to adopt ducks Friday night and Saturday during the day, before the OFA swim team dumps all the ducks, each with a specific number, over the bridge and into the Susquehanna River. From there, the ducks “race” down the river, and the owner of the first duck to reach the museum wins $250. The second place prize is $100 and third place is $50. For more information on the duck derby and the variety of events the Tioga Arts Council is taking part in this summer, you can visit them at 179 Front Street in Owego, or online at tiogaartscouncil.org.
