U.S. Senator Charles E. Schumer released the following statement after the announcement that the Australian Navy will purchase 24 MH-60R SEAHAWK helicopters, to be manufactured at Lockheed Martin’s Owego, NY facility.
“This is a fantastic news for Lockheed and a very “G’Day!” for Tioga and Broome Counties.
The Royal Australian Navy recognized what we all know: the Owego plant is full of talented and capable New Yorkers who routinely produce world-class, state-of-the art military equipment.
This is a huge shot in the arm for the local economy that will boost jobs and economic opportunities in the Southern Tier.”
