The third murder trial for Cal Harris is tentatively scheduled for October 7th in Tioga County Court. The businessman from Spencer is accused of killing his wife, Michele, who disappeared on September 11th 2001. Her body has never been found. Since his arrest in 2005, Harris has been tried and convicted twice of second degree murder. Both convictions were overturned on appeal. The prosecutor in both trials was former District Attorney Gerald Keene. Keene was elected Tioga County Judge in 2012. Visiting Judge James Hayden from Chemung County is presiding over the Harris case. Assistant District Attorney Irene Graven would prosecute Harris if the trial schedule holds. Graven is also a candidate for the District Attorney’s seat in Tioga County. There will be a primary election in September.
