Charges have been filed against the Keystone Manor resident who allegedly discharged a firearm within in his apartment. Sayre Borough Police have filed charges against 62-year-old James Carnrike in district court. He is now facing a charge of discharge of a firearm into an occupied structure, a third-degree felony. Additional charges of recklessly endangering another person and disorderly conduct, both misdemeanors, have also been filed. Carnrike is still awaiting official arraignment on the charges. Sayre Borough police were dispatched Wednesday to a report of shots fired on North Elmer Avenue at the apartment building in which Carnrike lives. According to police, officers negotiated with Carnrike by telephone for about an hour before he eventually surrendered to police without further incident. He was then taken to Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre. While at the scene, Sayre Borough police were assisted by Athens Borough, Athens Township, and Waverly police.
