New York State has announced $15 million has been awarded to 32 school districts to increase access to high-quality pre-kindergarten for over 2,000 three- and four-year-old children across New York. This funding will support the expansion of pre-kindergarten to these districts as part of the state’s ongoing efforts to promote early education and improve the academic future for all students. In our area, the Spencer-VanEtten School District was awarded $162,000, and the Dryden School District received $114,000. Funding was awarded to school districts based on the quality of the application, district and student need, efforts to target the highest need students, and to maximize the total number of children served in pre-kindergarten programs.
