With the unofficial start of summer in the Southern Tier, the Tioga County Health Department is warning residents to protect themselves from mosquitoes and the potential diseases they may carry. If you go outside, make sure you wear long-sleeved shirts and pants and use insect repellent. Inside, you can protect yourself by making sure windows and screens are correctly installed and free of holes. Also, remember that mosquitoes lay their eggs near water, so don’t leave standing water outside. For more information, check out the Health Department’s Facebook page or website.
