The Tioga County Legislature has given their official stamp of approval to back the bid for the Tioga Downs Hotel and Casino. County legislators say the racino is in a prime location. The resolution to back the bid for the casino was passed unanimously, and members cited tax dollars and an increase in tourism as ways the casino would benefit Tioga County. Twenty percent of the deciding factor in awarding a casino license is said to be how much each bid is supported within its own community. Latest reports say the state will begin accepting bids for the licenses in March.
