The Office of Tioga County Tourism is now accepting applications for the 2014 Downtown Beautification Grant. The program supports community members as they look to beautify the downtowns of Tioga County for the purpose of attracting visitors and enhancing their experience. The grant looks to stimulate development, improve the visual image of properties, and create community pride. Business owners and organizations can enhance the appearance of their downtown area with planters, benches, fountains, decorative light poles and more, and all funds can be reimbursed 100% through the grant program. The Tourism Office says that studies have shown beautification alone can increase sales between 15% and 35%. All applications for the grant can be submitted to Tioga County Tourism at 80 North Avenue in Owego, or you can call 687-7440 for more information. Applications will be accepted until all funds are dispersed.
