The Tioga Women’s Suffrage Committee is busy planning various events and other activities to celebrate the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage in New York State. The committee’s goal is to celebrate the anniversary by telling the story of the local suffrage movement in Broome and Tioga counties. A state committee is working on events to celebrate the anniversary across New York. Got an idea, historic information or a desire to get involved in the local anniversary celebration, put this date and time on your calendar. Monday, April 17th at 1 pm in the Hubbard Auditorium of the county office building on Main Street in Owego, the committee will hold an open meeting. Come with your ideas. The committee wants to hear from the local community. No registration is required. For more information before the meeting, call Tioga County Tourism at 607-687-7440 or send email to [email protected]. The committee also has a Facebook page.
