The Waverly Central School District’s Board of Education authorized the school to move forward with a memorandum of agreement with the Waverly Teacher’s Association which allows children of teachers living outside the district to attend Waverly schools. The association has been pushing for the change since a decision was handed down back in August of 2010 to no longer accept non-resident students. The new agreement allows any WTA members living outside the district boundaries that enroll their first child in the district by September of 2020 to be able to enroll subsequent children in the district as well. If the employee does not enroll the first child by that deadline, they forfeit the right to enroll any children in the district. The district is also considering having a similar policy for all district employees, not just members of the teacher’s association.
