An improperly used hot plate was the cause of a fire last week in Ithaca College’s East Tower. The hot plate was prohibited from use in the college’s dormitories. The 10th floor fire was extinguished by the building’s sprinkler system, but the building had to be closed for most of Thursday due to water damage.
