An Ithaca man has been arrested on two counts of felony Criminal Contempt in violating an order of protection. 53-year-old Joe Hawes was arrested after State Troopers were advised of two incidents when he had violated a valid court order of protection by having contact with the protected person. This arrest was raised to felony Criminal Contempt, because he has been convicted of misdemeanor Criminal Contempt three times within the last five years. Hawes was arraigned in the town of Newfield court and was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $1,500 cash bail or $3,000 property bond. His next court date in the town of Danby is on September 12, 2017.
