A woman in Ithaca was punched several times in the head by the man who stole her purse. Yesterday morning, police responded to the 200 block of South Geneva Street for a reported strong-arm robbery. The victim told police that while she was walking, a man ran up behind her and grabbed her purse, knocking her to the ground. The woman said the man then began punching her in the head and took her purse during the assault. The suspect then ran away. The victim walked to a nearby business and called police. The suspect is described as a white male, early 20s, 5 feet 6 inches tall, slender build, blond hair and was last seen wearing a black fleece jacket.
