On Friday, the New York State Police arrested Cody Troccoli, 17, of Montrose for felony charges of Criminal Mischief and Attempted Assault.
Troccoli is alleged to have broken a motel lobby window with his elbow and attempted to burn the motel desk clerk with a burning cigarette following a dispute over being ejected from the premises.
Troccoli was arrested shortly after the incident, while walking from the motel back towards his residence.
State Police are investigating if Troccoli’s actions were prompted by desk clerks religion and ethnicity and the potential that this is a bias incident.
Any additional witnesses who haven’t already come forward are asked to contact State Police Investigator Sean Morgan at the Cortlandt Barracks at 914.788.8044.
Troccoli was released to his legal guradian and is due to appear in the Town of Cortlandt Court on July 1st, at 9:00 a.m.
