The Corning Foundation has provided a $4.2 million grant to the Corning-Painted post School District to be applied to the 2011 budget.
The school district has been struggling with a $6 million budget gap.
The $4.2 million will restore curriculum, extra-curricular programs, and more than 50 jobs.
The school district still will have a budget gap that will likely mean 10 – 12 jobs will be eliminated.
The school board will vote to officially accept the grant at next Wednesday’s meeting.
The community’s budget vote takes place May 17th.
