Pennsylvania State Police confirmed yesterday that two people were taken into custody in connection to the murder of a Hallstead man. The victim was identified as Roy Marvin. An autopsy performed Wednesday evening showed Marvin died of multiple stab wounds. His death was ruled a homicide. Pennsylvania State Police said Jerry Mast and Sarah Briggs, both of Hallstead, were arrested in connection to Marvin’s death. Mast has been charged with criminal homicide, robbery, along with other charges. Briggs has been charged with murder in the second degree, robbery, and more. Mast and Briggs were found with Marvin’s vehicle in the parking lot of the Microtel Inn & Suites in Athens Twp. Marvin’s body was found on the side of Harmony Road in Great Bend Twp., approximately three miles from State Route 11 by a wildlife conservation officer. Through the investigation, it was learned that Marvin was in the company of Briggs and Mast around the time of his murder. The investigation is ongoing.
