A former Guthrie Clinic employee has filed a lawsuit against the healthcare organization alleging that they didn’t pay her and others for all their hours worked.
The lawsuit is looking for Chief Judge Matthew Brann of the Middle District of Pennsylvania that it may be designated as a class action, which would allow other affected employees to join the suit.
Jessica Waters is alleging that Guthrie automatically deducted 30 minutes a day from her and other hourly employees for meal breaks, even if they worked through that break.
She claims that employees were regularly expected to work through their meal breaks.
The lawsuit also alleges that Guthrie did not pay hourly employees at least 1.5 times their regular pay for hours worked beyond 40 each week, as required by law.
Waters worked at Guthrie from November 2023 through December 2025.
A hearing date has not been set at this time.
