Waverly will have a new mayor this year, and current trustee Patrick Ayres will run unopposed for the position. Petitions were due yesterday for those interested in appearing on the ballot for next month’s general election. Ayres, the owner of Broad Street Records, was the only candidate to turn in a petition for mayor. He currently serves as the village’s deputy to Mayor Dan Leary, who is stepping aside after his term ends. Also up for election next month are three trustee seats and the village justice post. Polls will be open from noon to 9pm on March 21 at the Village Hall.
