Randy Richards was named as the next superintendent of the Waverly school district by the school board. An agreement in principle has been reached with Richards, with an official appointment set for Thursday of this week. He is expected to begin the new position starting in July. Richards currently serves as the interim superintendent for the Hammond Central School District in St. Lawrence County, a district with over 300 students in one central school, as opposed to Waverly’s 1,600 students across five schools. Richards is an Air Force veteran with 30 years of experience in education, working as a guidance counselor, high school assistant principal and principal, at both elementary and high school levels, along with serving as superintendent in the Stockbridge Valley and Lake Placid districts.
